Ex-BP finance chief takes on Tullow Oil

Ian Springett takes up the chief financial officer role at international exploration company Tullow Oil

Springett, a chartered accountant, joins from BP where he was most recently group vice president reporting to the group CEO and executive team. He has held a number of positions at the company, having been there for 23 years, including CFO in BPs Americas regions and upstream CFO.

Pat Plunkett, chairman of Tullow said: 'I am delighted to welcome Ian to Tullow. He is an experienced CFO with outstanding financial and commercial skills and we look forward to working with him to continue to develop and grow the business.'

Springett replaces Tom Hickey who announced his resignation in April this year. Hickey will leave in late September following a brief handover period with Springett.
