Many finance directors believe the recession will benefit their business in the future.
Half of the FDs from medium-size businesses surveyed by Baker Tilly said the recession will see them better structured to take advantage of an upturn, particularly as less capable rivals disappear.
Around a quarter of companies surveyed are considering making acquisitions in the next 12 months.
But 35% of respondents are worried about the lack of financing available for their business, compared to 23% six months ago.
The firm surveyed 100 public and private companies across sectors, with turnover between £20m and £250m.
