Tax breaks available to non-doms in Ireland are to stay in place as the Irish attempt to lure foreign workers who have been scared off by the UK's non-dom crackdown.

The Irish Finance Ministry has assured foreigners that it had no plans to reform its non-dom rules as it wanted to 'market Ireland as an attractive base for investment', the Daily Telegraph reports.

One senior source in the Irish business community said: 'This is a great opportunity for Ireland, perhaps the greatest since the development of the International Financial Services sector.'

Chris Sanger, head of tax policy at Ernst & Young, said: 'Ireland is the closest and simplest jurisdiction for UK non-doms to move to, especially if those affected are thinking about doing something in the short term.'
