Gordon Ramsay has barely survived a roasting from the taxman at the High Court.

HM Revenue and Customs applied for winding-up petitions for four of Ramsay's eateries, two of which were thrown out.

The judge earlier dismissed two of the petitions, against The Narrow in Limehouse and The Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, because debts had already been paid, The Belfast Telegraph reported.

However he still must stump up cash to keep the other two trading.

Ramsay was gifted a two-week reprieve to pay debts on his Plane Food airport restaurant while he waited for a cheque to clear and 63 days on his Maze restaurant in Mayfair.
