Sage has written a letter of complaint to the trading standards authority requesting that product comparisons on KashFlow's website be more accurate.

KashFlow, the providers of online accountancy software, compares its products with rivals in terms of cost and functionality on its website but according to Sage is not comparing like-for-like.

A spokeswoman for Sage said: 'It’s really important that customers can make a simple and well-informed decision on the software that is best for them. We didn’t believe that the products Kashflow had chosen to compare made for a like-for-like comparison, so we contacted them several times to request some changes.'

'When these weren’t made, we did contact trading standards. This issue is now with trading standards for investigation, and we haven’t taken any further action on the matter,' she added.

Duane Jackson, MD and founder of KashFlow, said: 'Sage first got in touch with us requesting changes [to the product comparisons] which we complied with. They then came back and asked for further changes which we felt were unjustified, so did not make them.'
