Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has been charged with tax evasion.

Redknapp faces two counts of evading tax charges of £40,000 following alleged payments of $295,000 (£183,000) by former Portsmouth owner Milan Mandaric, via a Monaco bank account while he was employed by the south coast club.

Mandaric is jointly charged with Redknapp following a three year investigation by HMRC and City of London Police into alleged corruption in football.

In a statement, Redknapp’s solicitor, Ian Burton, said Redknapp had “co-operated fully with investigators during the course of this inquiry and is confident of a successful outcome to these court proceedings”.
