The chief executive at the ICAEW revealed 57 positions have disappeared at the institute with no plans to reinstate them post recession.

Michael Izza, ICAEW CEO, announced at yesterday's council meeting that the Institute would not be reinstating any of the positions in 2010.

Izza did confirm that some departments that were "stretched" would have to be "supported" next year

The institute would not make 1,000 international students this year but the chief exec is hopeful it will be achieved early in 2010.
