Grant Thornton announces new global CEO

Edward Nusbaum has been appointed as the CEO of Grant Thornton International, succeeding David McDonnell who retires after eight years in the role.

Nusbaum has most recently been CEO of the US member firm since 2001, and previously served as the firm’s national managing partner of professional services, managing partner of the Philadelphia office and national director of assurance services.

Commenting on the appointment, Nusbaum said: 'I will dedicate myself to continuing the Grant Thornton tradition of strong leadership in the accounting profession and in speaking out on issues of importance.'

The appointment is effective from 1 January, 2010.
