The Irish tax authorities have secured almost €320,000 (₤250,000) judgments against two people and two companies.

The biggest single collector general judgment amounting to €91,800 was against County Mayo carpet and flooring fitter Tony Howley, the Independent in Ireland reports.

The next biggest haul for the taxman was €84,100, registered against Balbradagh Developments; followed by a €82,300 charge against Darcytown businessman Alfie Fynes. The fourth and smallest judgment was against Dublin-based Southside Contract Cleaners.

These are the latest in a wave of hefty judgments, amounting to several six-figure sums awarded in favour of the taxman, including a €425,000 charge against John Mulhern, the son-in-law of former Irish prime minister the late Charles Haughey.
