ACA qualification attracts £76,200 average salary

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)’s second career benchmarking survey of its members conducted by Robert Half shows ACA qualified chartered accountants working in business earn an average basic salary of £76,200 against a typical salary for non-ACA qualified chartered accountants working in business at £65,000. An ACA qualified chartered accountant receives an bonus of £21,700 compared with a typical bonus of £4900 for a non-ACA qualified chartered accountant.

ICARW said the average pay packet for chartered accountants with the ACA qualification working in business continued to reflect the value and contribution they made in all aspects of business and industry.

For those in the role of chairmen, chief executives and managing directors, the average salary was £122,400 and the average bonus, £60,000 while finance managers earned an average salary of £50,200 and bonus of £5800.

For new starters in the profession, the average salary was £48,600 during the first four years and post qualification compared to an average of £84,300 for those qualified for 20 or more years.
