Swiss government officials are hoping to hold talks with Germany following calls for the tax haven to be blacklisted.
Hans-Rudolf Merz, finance minister for Switzerland, said he will be engaging in discussions with Peer Steinbrueck over the next few weeks 'in the spirit of friendship', according to afxnews.com
Steinbrueck is encouraging the OECD to include Switzerland on the OECD's tax haven blacklist, joining the likes of Monaco, Andorra and Liechtenstein.
Merz said his counterpart should concentrate his efforts on ensuring capital investment gains compliance, effective from 2009.
'He should go after these people and remind them of the rules, rather than reminding us of the rules with respect to tax evasion,' he said.
