Insurance underwriter Chaucer has announced a boardroom shake-up.

It has promoted divisional finance director, Ken Curtis, to the chief financial officer role.

He will retain his title as FD of Chaucer Syndicates, the group's managing agency, while the company searches for a replacement. Prior to joining Chaucer, Curtis was senior manager in the London market insurance division at Deloitte.

The group has also taken on new chairman, Robert Deutsch in its CSL division. Deutsch, who is currently a non-executive director for the group, has had a lucrative career having worked as a senior manager at Ernst & Young, a CFO at insurance company CNA Financial Corp, and executive vice president with Swiss Re America.

Chaucer has also promoted its chief underwriter Robert Stuchberry to chief exec replacing current CEO Ewen Gilmour who retires this year.
