Few women among FTSE 100 executives

The statistics reveal an increase of 50% on last year, but a worrying low number of female executives nonetheless.

Of the top women in business there is just one CEO, Marjorie Scardino of the Pearson Group.

There are however more women working as finance directors. Their ranks include Alison Reed who recently joined Marks & Spencer, Rona Fairhead, FD at Pearson, Helen Weir at Kingfisher and Judy Boynton, FD at Shell.

There remains just one female chairman in a FTSE 100 company, Baroness Hogg of 3i, the venture capitalists.
