Shadow Chancellor George Osborne is set to announce details of a financial package aimed at stymieing the resurgence of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The plans are likely to include tax cuts, according to independent.co.uk. This would represent something of a policy U-turn for the Tories, who have steered clear of tax cuts, preffering to focus on a reduction in public borrowing.
Measures to curb growing unemployment, reduce fuel bills for those on low income families and cap the number of house repossessions are also expected to feature.
A Tory source said: ''We are always in favour of putting money into people's pockets.'
