New public sector IT deals

A summary of recent public sector IT deals, ranging from a supply chain solution for the MoD to HR software for Reaseheath College.

Peterborough City Council has chosen Sx3 to deliver new call centre, one-stop shop and web facilities for its residents. Sx3 will also redesign and integrate systems to improve the council's customer service strategy, as part of the "Peterborough Direct" project.

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young/Ministry of Defence
The MoD's Defence Fuels Group has awarded a £10m contract to CGE&Y to deliver a computer-based business service, known as Bulk Fuels Inventory Solution (BFIS). This will give the Fuels Group a fully managed procurement and supply chain solution for the first time, as opposed to the three separate processes currently used by the Army, Navy and Air Force. The new service is set to start in August.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers/Dell/Inland Revenue
Fujitsu Siemens and Dell have been awarded a joint multi-million pound contract to supply desktop PC systems to the Inland Revenue. The deal is part of the Inland Revenue's ongoing desktop replenishment programme that will see it replace 30,000 computers.

Mondas/Reaseheath College
Mondas has won a contract to supply Cheshire-based Reaseheath College with the Resource 32000 HR module. The new system gives immediate access to the full employment history of each member of staff, plus their training and development records. It also provides a review and appraisal system and full support for the external recruitment and internal vacancy process.

Agresso/University of York/University of Lincoln
Agresso has won contracts with the Universities of York and Lincoln to supply them with core financials, purchasing, project and research modules from its Business World suite. The two Universities have also procured web access and web requisition systems. Both projects will be completed by the end of the year.

Links Education/Merseygrid/Teksys/National Grid for Learning
Links Education, Merseygrid and Teksys have been selected to supply The National Grid for Learning's with £100m worth of Laptops for teachers' initiative using Fujitsu Siemens hardware. The two-year deal sees the three resellers offer Fujitsu's LIFEBOOK C1010 notebook for local education authorities to allocate.

Trisys/DataCore/Oxford University
Trisys has been chosen to supply the Oxford University Clinical School with a storage management solution from DataCore. The software, SANsymphony, will allow the School to manage its data pools across directories, clients and various legacy systems.

Albany Software/The National Youth Agency
The National Youth Agency (NYA) has placed a £10,000 order for EFT and electronic delivery software from Albany. The system will automate delivery of grant payments to approximately 250 people per month, and should result in large administrative cost savings.
