A new report from help desk management solutions provider
Numara Software suggests that
firms are struggling to implement the ITIL best practice framework, despite its
benefits.
ITIL is a set of best practice guidance
and documentation that enterprises can use to ensure good service management
procedures. The framework is just guidance, however, and is not a legal
requirement for firms.
Numara said that following the framework could help empower firms and improve
their use of resources, but explained that in a survey it had found that less
than ten per cent of enterprises had adopted it, potentially at their own cost.
“In our fast paced commercial world, companies face a multitude of challenges
and are heavily reliant on IT in order to keep abreast of these demands. Today
technology is a given, and the more forward thinking companies already
understand that their focus must move away from the nuts and bolts of ‘doing
IT’, towards a more business service-oriented approach,” says Andy White,
managing director at Numara Software.
In order to help firms understand how and why they should benefit from ITIL
compliance Numara has released a guide which is based on two years of research.
ITIL without the handcuffs is available now.
