Information security awareness forum launches

New web site is launched by the ISAF with the aim that it will become the source of IT security news

Written by David Neal

The Information Security Awareness Forum (ISAF), a cross industry initiative designed to raise awareness of IT security issues, has gone live with its web site today.

The web site has been launched with the intention that it will act as a resource for industry members, and will ultimately become a "focal point for IT security education, news and other relevant information". Members of the ISAF include the ISSA, ISACA, Getsafeonline and the British Computer Society, all of whom are expected to participate.

Dr David King, ISAF chairperson, announced the launch saying, "The Information Security Awareness Forum has been formed to coordinate and build on existing work and initiatives, to improve their overall effectiveness, and ultimately to increase the level of security awareness that will help us all” he said.

"Our new Web site will act as the foundation stone to help us achieve these aims".

Other members were quick to pledge their support, including Ken Rabey, Project Director, National e-Crime Prevention Centre. Rabey said, "The National e-Crime Prevention Centre welcomes all efforts to protect the UK from electronic crime and the ISAF Web site is an additional and useful site for advice and guidance. Encouraging people and businesses to take action on the available advice is key to reducing the harm to individuals and the economy.”
