At its OpenWorld show in San Francisco, Oracle released new pre-built modules
based on its
Application
Integration Architecture (AIA), designed to help firms more easily connect
disparate enterprise apps.
During his keynote, Oracle president Charles Phillips told the 43,000
delegates that Oracle’s current focus is very much on reducing the complexity of
IT environments – an issue Oracle aims to address with a range of new
integration packs based on its AIA, which was launched in April. “We have the
resources, the components and the specialists to unify applications. We want to
do that integration for you,” he added. “Customers can modify the packs, and
include connectors to third-party applications.”
New modules made available included a trade management pack, which features
pre-built business process integration between Siebel CRM and Oracle E-Business
Suite; and the Agent-Assisted Billing Care Integration Pack, aimed at improving
call centre operations across the communications industry. The vendor also
released integration packs that help firms connect Oracle applications with
SAP’s.
Chuck Roswat, executive vice-president of product development at Oracle,
said that AIA version 2.0 provides firms with APIs, data flows and data formats
to enable them to connect applications. “We’ve defined very specific workflows
and done the integration to completion. We’re not just providing a tool, we’re
providing a solution,” he explained.
