Written by IT Week staff

Microsoft has set the date for general availability of its latest wave of communications software, setting a 16 October release date for Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007, Office Communicator 2007 and Office Live Meeting.

In an invitation to press for a webcast, Microsoft said that chairman Bill Gates and Jeff Raikes, president of Microsoft’s business division, will host the session.

In August, Microsoft released Service Pack 1 for Exchange 2007, the underlying server for its unified communications strategy.
