M&S online has a merry Xmas

M&S reveals details of its bumper Christmas

Marks & Spencer posted its Christmas sales figures last week, showing strong growth in its online business.

Internet sales in the 13 weeks to 30 December increased by 70 percent compared with 2005, while group sales increased by 5.6 percent.

Online sales have contributed to a turnaround in the retailer’s fortunes. A new M&S web site, developed with Amazon, will reportedly be launched before Easter.

Wine merchant Majestic and John Lewis are among the other retailers that have already posted strong online results.
