Systems and security management software vendor
LANDesk continued its push into business
process management software (BPM) this week with the launch of an updated
version of its newly acquired
LANDesk Process Manager
suite.
The technology, which was gained through its purchase of BPM and workflow
automation specialist NewRoad Software earlier this year, has been updated to
feature tighter integration with LANDesk's systems and security management
products as well as other third party applications, the company said.
Kevin Auger of LANDesk said Process Manager 2.0 is shipping now and features
graphical tools for modelling processes and an enterprise workflow engine
capable of automating and managing not only IT processes, such as patch updates
and change management, but also business workflows, such as compliance or HR
processes.
Auger added that the suite could also capture the audit trail generated by a
process to help prove regulatory compliance and ensure best practices are
adhered to.
The suite was unveiled at this week's Gartner BPM summit in London, where the
analyst firm predicted interest in BPM software is set to increase as firms move
from successful pilot deployments to enterprise-wide BPM roll outs. According to
the company BPM suites ability to automate certain human tasks and manage
document workflow and task assignments leads to productivity gains of between 15
and 150 percent.
