Aircraft manufacturer
Airbus is using a
next-generation network to provide bandwidth between its production sites.
Supplier Interoute
will support Airbus’ data communications between the company's main assembly
site in Toulouse, France and three other production facilities in Europe.
Drivers behind the move include the flexibility provided by new optical fibre
networks, which will be tightly secured.
The news follow Airbus’ announcement of the world's largest radio-frequency
identification (RFID) project, which the company unveiled earlier this year. The
project is aimed at improving accuracy and automation of its supply chain and
cost reduction via scaling down on aircraft production.
