BMC acquires BladeLogic for £396m

Supplier will compete with HP/Opsware in data centre automation market

Systems management specialist BMC Software is to acquire data centre management supplier BladeLogic in an $800m (£396m) deal.

The move will see BMC compete with HP in the data centre automation market following HP’s $1.6bn acquisition of Opsware in 2007.

BladeLogic software is designed to save on time and manpower costs of configuring data centre servers by automatically updating and troubleshooting operating systems and applications.
