Cinema chain Vue Entertainment has
replaced electronic tills at more than 50 outlets nationwide following the
deployment of new ticketing software last year.
The software allows ticketing and concession staff to operate from any till
and allowed the cinema company to rationalise its number of tills.
It also wanted flexibly-mounted touchscreen terminals that can swivel to face
the customer and be used to sell tickets from confectionary counters.
‘In an environment such as ours, reliability at point-of-sale is absolutely
critical,’ said Vue Cinema IT director Roland Jones. ‘There is no margin for
downtime when you have a queue of customers waiting to buy tickets in a tight
timeframe.’
Vue chose the 550 and 520 touchscreen models from vendor
J2 Retail Systems for both its
concession stands and box offices.
‘It is delivering great performance across all our venues,’ said Jones. ‘It
looks good, it’s quiet and adds to the customers’ experience by involving them
in seat selection.’
The tills are fanless machines, which also provides reliability and silent
operation, and delivers a reduced cost of ownership for Vue.
