Welsh video site launched

Screen Wales is described as Welsh Youtube

Written by Andrea-Marie Vassou

A website that lets people upload and view videos on Welsh culture and news has been launched.

Screen Wales has been described as the Welsh Youtube. It will feature video-based news for each region in Wales as well as entertainment and sport programmes. This includes interviews with the late John Charles, one of the country's most highly rated footballers.

People will also be given the opportunity to upload videos about Welsh tourist attractions, as well as form groups to meet similar-minded people in their area.

Local government is also using the site to communicate with the public. Wrexham County Borough Council has already uploaded video content from the Wrexham Science Festival. Other local authorities are expected to follow suit.

Businesses, charities and universities are also being encouraged to post videos about their cause on the site to raise awareness.
