It has been well noted that the furore over possible accounting problems at Adecco has been fuelled in no small part by the stonewall approach of the company's spokespeople.
So news that executive chairman John Bowmer would be holding a teleconference was met with relief by journos, who had run up against an eerily silent press department.
But hacks were disappointed to be briefed that no answers would be given on a bizarre list that included 'the technical details of what is happening in our audit situation, details of the government investigation, the future, or things that are not yet known with certainty'.
Bowmer, who described himself as 'usually rather garrulous', proceeded to issue a string of no less than 15 'no comments'. TS wonders whether shareholders in the US will have better luck getting answers from Adecco, having just issued lawsuits accusing the company of putting out 'misleading' statements.
