PAYE chief received triple pay
Key player behind HMRC's PAYE system received £50,000 a month to keep him in post an extra three months
HMRC’s acting chief information officer saw his pay tripled to keep him in
post until a permanent replacement could take his post.
The
Daily Express reports that Deepak Singh was paid £50,000 a month to
keep him on after he failed to secure appointment to the post. The pay was
intended to keep him on for an extra three months. He was also paid £19,000 for
employment counselling.
The pay details were revealed by HMRC’s chief executive Dame Leslie Strathie
during a hearing of the House of Commons public accounts committee.
