PwC names industry leaders and academics as non-execs

Five non-execs appointed to PwC's UK firm

Five non-executives have
joined PwC’s
UK firm.

The appointments are the firm’s response to the industry’s new governance
code.

Dame Karen Dunnell; Sir Ian Gibson; Professor Andrew Hamilton; Sir Richard
Lapthorne; and Paul Skinner and come from the fields of business, academia and
the public and professional services sectors.

They will sit on a newly-formed public interest body where they will be
joined by partners fo the firm but have a majority.

The board will discuss enhancing the public interest aspect of the firm’s
decision-making.

“We recognise our public interest responsibility and we believe, now more
than ever, we must demonstrate our commitment to accountability and
transparency,” said Ian Powell, PwC’s chairman and senior partner.

Dame Karen is a professional statistician and spent most of her career at the
Office of National Statistics. Sir Ian is currently chairman of both Morrisons
and Trinity Mirror. Hamilton is vice chancellor of the University of Oxford. Sir
Richard is currently chairman of Cable & Wireless Communications. Skinner is
a non-executive at Standard Chartered. Air Liquide and Tetra Laval.
