CBI demands competitive business tax regime
Urgent action is needed to establish a competitive regime for business taxes, warns the CBI
The UK’s leading business lobby group has demanded the next government
establish a competitive business tax regime to spur on the UK’s tentative
recovery.
The
CBI made the call in repeating 12 priorities it would like to see addressed
by an incoming government during the first 100 days of the new administration.
The priorities were first unveiled last year in its “New
Government in Action: The Business Agenda” paper.
Richard Lambert, CBI Director-General, said the priority for the next
government must be a credible plan for restoring the public finances and
supporting economic growth.
“Other areas for urgent action include establishing a competitive regime for
business taxes so that companies can drive the recovery forward, as well as
minimising the scarring effects of youth unemployment.
“We believe that focusing on these priorities will help create the right
conditions for job-creation and economic stability,” Lambert added.
