Medical tax amnesty toothless for dentists

Medical tax amnesty toothless for dentists

Dentists not yet under the medical tax amnesty - but they could be soon

Dentists have been extracted from the tax amnesty aimed at the medical
profession.

HM Revenue
& Customs’s
tax crackdown on the medical profession, through an
amnesty aimed at encouraging tax avoiders to come clean, was initially thought
to include dentists, however the taxman has explained it currently only runs to
those regulated by the
General Medical
Council
.

The taxman will talk with the British
Dental Association
and GMC to consider including dentists.

“We are looking at whether we have sufficient information to include other
health professionals at this time,” said HMRC in a statement on its website.

“We already have plans to provide similar opportunities to other professional
groups, including other health professionals soon.”
