PBR 09: Electric car exempt from tax

No taxes for electric company cars for the next five years

The UK government will now exempt all electric cars from company car tax for the next five years, Alistair Darling has announced in his pre-Budget report today.

He added that all electric vans purchased would recieve a 100% first year allowance as well as being exempt from the van benefit charge for five years.

The chancellor also allocated £30m in funding to support the development of low-carbon transport.
