Yorkshire County Cricket Club is recruiting for a finance director, following confirmation of major expansion plans.

The position is newly-created, and according to Stewart Regan, CEO of the Club, the vacancy has attracted significant attention.

Regan said given the limited number of finance positions in professional sport and the continuing globalization of cricket, he is not surprised by the level of interest in the role.

‘Cricket is going through a purple patch. There’s a lot of interest in the game, especially since the emergence of 20/20 cricket, and we’re coming into the Ashes year. Yorkshire also has strong heritage and history,’ he said.

By 2019, the Club plans to have invested in excess of £60m into the cricket ground, increasing the capacity to 22, 000.

Fred Trueman and Geoffrey Boycott are among the famous names to have played for Yorkshire, with Michael Vaughan, Matthew Hoggard and Darren Gough all current first XI capped players.
