Lewis Hamilton stays in Swiss exile

Formula 1 champion confirms he is to remain a Swiss resident for tax purposes

Written by Nick Huber

Lewis Hamilton is to maintain a comfortable distance from the UK taxman after confirming that he will remain a tax exile in Switzerland.

The 23-year-old, who became the youngest ever Formula One world champion at the weekend after a thrilling Brazilian Grand Prix, moved to Lake Geneva last year. Other Formula One racing champions, including Michael Schumacher and Alain Prost, have also taken up Swiss residence.

Hamilton will be able to spend 90 days in the UK and still retain his tax exile status.
