Grant Thornton tops US audit research

US quarterly audit poll places GT top for the first time

Grant Thornton has taken first place in the quarterly US audit rankings, the first time it has been won by a firm outside the Big Four.

The ranking, by the Public Accounting Report, takes into account gains in SEC clients, net gain in revenues audited, net gain in assets audited and the gain in audit fees.

The firm made a net gain of five clients for Q2 2008, for clients with revenues totally approximately $5.3bn (£2.7bn) and a net gain of $5.1bn in clients' assets audited.
