CIMA give IT manager the top spot

Glynn Lowth has been elected president for CIMA.

Written by Rachael Singh

CIMA has announced that former deputy president Glynn Lowth has been elected president at the 89th AGM.

Lowth succeeds Gordon Grant and in an unusual step for CIMA, which in the past has predominantly given the title to CFOs, FDs or FCs, has a technology background currently holding the position of IT manager for IT services company BASF.

The new president has been a council member for over 18 years and chaired the Institutes committees including the disciplinary committee.

'It is an honour to be elected as CIMA’s president and I look forward to leading the only Chartered Management Accountancy body with a sole focus on business into new markets and territories. I am keen to build upon CIMA’s activities across the world and to maintain our strategic momentum' said Lowth.

Aubrey Joachim has been promoted from vice president to deputy president and George Glass formerly chairman of the lifelong learning policy committee takes on the role of vice president.

Prior to BASF Lowth was head of accounting development at Kroll Pharmaceuticals.
