Business and financial adviser Grant Thornton has appointed Paul Cooper to tax partner in the firm's London transactions tax team.
He was previously a director at Terra Firma, the private equity fund.
Cooper, who joined Grant Thornton in June this year, has significant experience in transaction tax. He has spent over ten years advising FTSE 100 clients, privately held businesses and private equity funds on a wide range of large UK and pan-European transactions. He has also been an M&A tax partner at KPMG.
In his role at Grant Thornton, Cooper will focus on transactions in the private equity and corporate sectors. He will also provide tax advice for clients undertaking restructurings and re-negotiating finance.
Stephen Quest, head of transactions tax, said: ‘His experience bolsters an already strong offering and I am confident the transactions tax team will see growth in deal advice as a result. The current economic climate is challenging, but still offers great opportunity for transactions work.’
Grant Thornton's dedicated team of transactions tax specialists advises shareholders, businesses and private equity investors on acquisitions, disposals, refinancings, restructurings and flotations.
