Channel 4 FD’s loyalty pays off

Loyalty scheme at Channel 4 could see FD Anne Bulford net 30% on top of salary until 2010

Written by Paul Grant

Channel 4 finance director Anne Bulford is in line to earn up to 30% on top of her salary in bonuses over the next three years, as part of a loyalty scheme introduced to prevent defections.

Bulford pulled in £400,000 last year, a £331,000 salary and a £56,000 bonus, according to the television channel's latest annual report, and she could be in line for additional payments if she stays in the FD position until April 2010.

The loyalty scheme was brought to prevent a repeat of former chief executive Mark Thompson's defection to the BBC, according to The Guardian.

The biggest winner of the scheme was current chief executive, Andy Duncan, who saw his pay almost double to £1.21m last year.
