British prime minister Gordon Brown has stressed his opposition to any change towards EU tax harmonisation, Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore said after talks at Downing Street this week.
Gilmore said the issue was raised during the talks aimed at improving relations between the Irish and British Labour parties.
He said Brown shared the Irish Labour Party's opposition to a common corporate tax base across Europe even though no such proposal iwas included in the Lisbon Treaty, Irish RTE News reported.
The two party leaders also discussed the forthcoming investment conference in Belfast next month and expressed their hopes for its success.
