Tax software firm Digita has been snapped up by the Thomson Corporation.
Digita will lead Thomson's efforts to build up its professional services software division in the UK.
Jerry Rihll, MD of Digita, said the firm would look to use its new position to provide a greater range of products, which will see it offer more than tax software to accountants and place it in increase competition with Iris and Sage.
'We will offer a wider range of products – things our customers know we have wanted to develop. Digita will be the hub of [Thomson's] accountancy software.'
Helen Owers, president and COO of Thomson International Legal and Regulatory said: 'With our acquisition, we will continue to invest in Digita's product development.'
The value of the deal was undisclosed.
