US Republican presidential candidate, John McCain, has called for a meeting of accountants and mortgage lenders to fix the housing crises.

McCain's call has been reported as an effort to boost his weak economic credentials.

The Democrats particularly criticised McCain for failing to have a specific approach, Reuters reported.

'I will not play election year politics with the housing crisis. I will evaluate everything in terms of whether it might be harmful or helpful to our effort to deal with the crisis we face now,' McCain said.
