Johnston Carmichael on threshold of major growth

Scotland’s fastest growing independent accountancy firm targets more growth

Written by AccountancyAge.com

Johnston Carmichael, Scotland's biggest and now its fastest growing independent accountancy firm, is about to embark on a major expansion.

The Aberdeen-based firm has doubled its fees from just over £10m in 2003 to £20m in 2007 and expects even further growth in 2008, The Scotsman reports.

Sandy Manson, Johnston Carmichael's chief executive, said business growth in Edinburgh and Glasgow combined with the reach of the firm's financial services arm, a £2m business last year, had led to the record growth.

Manson predicted 2008 would be a watershed year for the firm. ‘We have hired a new recruitment team and with ten offices and more than 450 people across Scotland, we can offer partner-led services to the owner-managed business sector throughout Scotland,’ he said.
