Alan Brown crowned Rentokil CEO

ICI CFO becomes chief exec of Rentokil after pest control giant carries out a boardroom overhaul

Written by David Jetuah

Alan Brown has been appointed as the new CEO of Rentokil after the board of the under-fire company instigated a clear out of senior management figures.

After the company issued a profit warning last month, which saw the value of its shares drop by a quarter, Rentokil's CFO Andrew MacFarlane was also thought to be in the firing line, but the company said that he would be staying on.

Rentokil said: 'Rentokil Initial today announces the appointments to the board of Dr Alan Brown as chief executive, John McAdam as chairman, and Andy M Ransom as
executive director, corporate development.

'Together with Andrew Macfarlane, the chief financial officer, and other members of the senior management team, they will form a new senior leadership team for the Rentokil Initial group. It also announces the resignations of Brian McGowan, chairman and Doug Flynn, chief executive with immediate effect.'

Brown takes over as CEO from 1 April.
