Gordon Ramsay's accountancy nightmare

Ramsay restaurants miss Companies House deadline

Written by Nicholas Neveling

He may be a stickler for fresh ingredients, but when it comes to filing his accounts on time it seems that celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is not so fussy.

Companies House records show that the accounts for Gordon Ramsay Holdings, the company that operates most of Ramsay’s restaurants, should have been filed at the end of June last year.

Seven separate companies controlling Ramsay’s flagship restaurants, including Gordon Ramsay at Claridges, Maze and Royal Hospital Road, have also failed to file numbers with Companies House on time.

The restaurant at Claridges has two sets of accounts outstanding. Ramsay has been fined at least £3,500 for missing the filing deadlines and faces further penalties if the overdue accounts are not sent to Companies House within a year of the missed deadlines.

Private companies are given ten months after their year end to file their numbers. The last accounts submitted by Gordon Ramsay Holdings cover the financial year ended 31 August 2005. Gordon Ramsay Holdings did not respond to requests for comment.
