Disgraced bankers face US jail term for £3.6m fraud

The Natwest three are to be handed their jail sentences today for a £3.6m fraud related to the collapse of Enron.

The three former bankers had dealings with Enron which involved the use of their wealth to invest in ventures which ranged from engineering to movie production, pubs and properties in Scotland.

In line with the terms of a plea agreement, David Bermingham, Gary Mulgrew and Giles Darby are each expected to be sent to prison for 37 months by a Houston federal court.
