PKF has named Lisa Macpherson as its new national director of tax.
The mid-tier firm managed to lure Macpherson from Deloitte, where she was employed in the Big Four firm's tax policy group.
As part of her new role, Macpherson will head up PKF's tax technical team, which supports the firm's tax arms on policy and technical issues across its national network of 23 offices.
Macpherson said: 'This is an exciting time to be joining PKF, given that the UK tax regime has become increasingly complex in recent years with almost constant changes emanating from the Treasury and HMRevenue & Customs. The raft of new legislation and rules introduced in the last two years means that businesses are increasingly reliant on their tax advisers and my new role will be central to ensuring PKF's tax advisers are ahead of the game.'
The PKF debutante has more than 20 years experience working in all areas of taxation including compliance and consultancy. Macpherson worked with Deloitte for nearly nine years developing specialisms in IHT, trusts, pre-owned assets, and capital gains tax.
She added: 'The chancellor has been under constant pressure since his first pre-Budget report and the Budget in March will be important for his credibility with the business community. My role will be central in communicating to the Treasury the true impact of changes to the tax regime, particularly for AIM-quoted and privately-owned entrepreneurial companies that form a large part of our client base and which have been hardest hit by recent changes.'
