MI5 calls KPMG in to investigate industrial espionage

UK companies urged to notify MI5 of breaches to security, as the government brings in accountants to invetsigate business espionage

Written by Penny Sukhraj

KPMG has been called by government security service MI5 into lead a group in monitoring cases of industrial espionage among British industries.

The service is concerned by a high number of foreign government attempts to hack into company computer systems of major companies, and last week also accused China of trying to steal corporate secrets.

KPMG is now creating a 'risk management information exchange' with a team of security and IT experts to assess 'threat levels' and warn of imminent dangers the Telegraph reported.

Companies who discover security breaches to their computer systems, which include viruses, have been urged to notify MI5 and other companies using the KPMG group.
