Written by David Jetuah

Accounting software giant Sage has appointed Mark Rolfe as a non-executive director as of 1 December 2007.

Rolfe will serve on the audit, remuneration and nominations committees, and from 1 April 2008 will chair the audit panel, a Sage statement said.

The announcement came in conjunction with the release of the software giant's final results today.

Rolfe was FD of Gallaher Group, until the group was acquired by Japan Tobacco Inc in April 2007.

Commenting on the appointment, Sage chairman Tony Hobson said, 'Mark Rolfe has a tremendous track record as the FD of a major international business. This experience will enable him to provide strong leadership of the audit committee and will be of enormous value to the board.'
