A former FD at the Football Association, Horne received his award during a dinner attended by the profession's great and good at the Battersea Park Arena in London on Wednesday night.

The evening also saw Sir Mike Rake, chairman of BT and former chairman of KPMG International, receive the Award for Outstanding Industry Contribution.

Sir Mike was honoured for work in leading the firm in the UK, as well as internationally. His time in charge included shepherding the firm through the US tax shelter scandal.

This year's awards for Global Firm of the Year returned to a Big Four player with KPMG taking top honours. Another big winner was Ian Dyson, FD at Marks & Spencer, who won our Blue Chip FD of the Year Award.
