Accountant petitions government for legal protection

New money-laundering rules do not offer sufficient protection to the profession, says concerned petitioner

An accountant has begun an online campaign asking government to provide legal protection to the term 'accountant'.

London-based Alan Shooter, of Shooter & Co, found out about the government's online petition facility, he decided to use it to call for protection of the profession.

Shooter believes that new money-laundering rules, which are to take effect in December, do not offer sufficient protection to the profession.
