Begbies AGM to approve Gittins as FD

John Gittins expected to be endorsed as firm's finance chief, at annual general meeting taking place later today

Shareholders are expected to rubber-stamp the appointment of John Gittins as Begbies Traynor's new FD in a few hours.

The mid-tier firm said: 'Begbies Traynor is pleased to announce that, at the AGM to be held later today, proposals will be put to shareholders to approve the appointments of Mr John Gittins to the board of directors of the company.'

ICEAW-qualified Gittins, was most recently finance director of Vertex Data Science, until recently a wholly owned subsidiary of United Utilities, between 1999 and 2007. Prior to that, in 1993, he joined Spring Group plc a fully listed UK Support Services company, where he was group FD.

Graham McInnes, who has been FD since Begbies floated on AIM in September 2004, will remain on the board, but will assume the new role of corporate development director.

Geoffrey Hill, who is currently a non-executive director, will also become
an executive director of the company with responsibility for developing
services to the accountancy profession.

Begbies chairman Ric Traynor added: 'Graham McInnes' move, to concentrate his considerable knowledge on corporate development will, we believe, create opportunities for Begbies to continue to grow the range of services we can offer to our clients.'
